Wow... it's been a while, hasn't it?

So the plans are coming along nicely for the whole wedding thing. The ceremony location is booked, and so is the DJ. The reception is now down to just a couple choices, and the photography choices are also being narrowed down. She has her dress picked out, and is going in Thursday for a proper try-on, and to show it to some friends and family.

I'd heard a lot of noise about how hard it can be to plan a wedding. And honestly, I'm not really that stressed about it. Then again, I rarely get stressed about many things, do I?

Seriously though? The DJ is absolutely kick-ass. We were at a couple wedding shows these past couple weekends, and we saw him spinning a bit. Man, is this guy good. The transitions are utterly spot on, and I'm looking forward to having him there.

For guests, it'll be a good venue because there's a bunch of hotels in the immediate vicinity, as well as some other forms of entertainment. Plenty of ways to kill time, if required.

Well, it's been 9 days since I proposed, and it's amazing how fast plans can move forward when you have two people of a (mostly) like mind working on things.

The date has been set at May 15th of next year. We have a good idea for the venue of the ceremony AND the reception, as well as the pictures (they're all close to one another). We have a rough guest list sorted out, and Jeanette has a pretty good idea what dress she'll be getting, or so I'm told. Jeanette also has a friend who is a wedding planner, and she's agreed to work with us on this as well.

The big one in my mind is also moving forward... the entertainment. We'll probably get a DJ, but there's going to be so much more. I had one idea for "alternate" entertainment, and Jeanette has finally conceded to allow it to happen. I won't say what it is just yet, but suffice it to say that there will be on part of the evening's fun and games that will be absolutely epic.

There a series of new experiences coming to my life, which should make for some good blog fodder......I'm getting married.

Yes, you read that right, the 40-year-old-marriage-virgin is getting hitched. I asked Jeanette to marry me last night (in a rather unique and embarrassing way, I might add), and she said yes. Tentatively we're looking at the middle of next May; just under 10 months. This satisfies my desire for a short-ish engagement, while also satisfying her desire to plan the living bejeezus out of things.

And I've got a new nickname for myself now too... World? Meet Groomzilla.
