About me and this blog

I've had a few informal requests for a bit more information about me and this blog, so here it is.
My name is Jeremy. I'm 30-something, though I'm told that I don't look my age, and I certainly don't act it. I'm a firm believer that age is nothing more than a measure of time. That growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional. I try to live my life by this rule, and by the principle that life is too short for regrets.
I live in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, and I work as a Systems and Network Administrator. I have enough responsibility at work that living my life as an over-sized kid is pretty easy. I amuse myself with a variety of activities, foremost of which is rowing. But I also enjoy cycling, blading and hiking for physical activities. Apart from that, my hobbies include cooking, music, reading, computers, and whatever else happens to catch my interest.
My family are incredibly important to me, and my true friends, although few in number, have been a part of my life for a very long time - the shortest of them is someone I met about 15 years ago. The oldest is someone I've known for 22 years, and counting.
The point of these pages is the same as most other blogs... a place to vent, to share thoughts and feelings, and to expound upon whatever topic tickles my fancy. It offers a window into parts of me that some people never see, and for others it shows a glimpse of what they already know, albeit maybe from a different perspective.
I don't use my own name a whole lot, and that's on purpose. For other people's names, I'll only use names with prior permission. Where permission isn't given, I'll only use an initial. So if you see your name here by mistake, then just shoot me off a quick email and I'll fix it post-haste. All images here were taken by me, except where otherwise specified - credit where credit's due, right?
