Important First Step
16 March 2007 - 17:34 .
So now that I'm officially unemployed, I've decided to start working for myself. I've had some input and help from friends (MUCH more on that, and them, in a later post) and things look promising; I've already had some billable hours.
But before you can go into business for yourself, you have to get your priorities straight, and you have to know where you want your company to go... so I bought this...

If you've ever worked in a corporate environment, you need to see the movie Office Space. Then you'll get it. But for now, I have my own red Swingline Stapler to remind of what it means to be Peter or Milton. Or more important still, what it means to work for Lumburgh.

Well, I think your frist purchase for your home office should be a new speelchecker ;)Posted by Jer on 16 March 2007 - 17:40
No idea what you mean, Matt.....Posted by Soundy on 16 March 2007 - 17:44
That's okay, I have a screenshot of it ;)Posted by Soundy on 16 March 2007 - 17:45
Oh yeah... if you buy me a burger at the game, I won't post it anywhere. How's that? :D :D :DPosted by Jer on 16 March 2007 - 17:58
Go ahead... I've never claimed to be perfect or faultless...Posted by Soundy on 16 March 2007 - 18:10
Well, okay... but I'll let you buy me a burger anyway ;)Posted by Sue on 16 March 2007 - 22:13
Well done. Next thing you know you'll be getting yourself an Easy Button. (Everyone needs one... really!)Posted by donna on 17 March 2007 - 00:26
Ok, the stapler is indeed the best thing ever, but promise me one thing: that you do NOT set the building on fire. When working for someone else, this is acceptable, and even fun. When working for yourself, this is BAD! :)Posted by Jer on 17 March 2007 - 09:14
Sue - nothing is anywhere near as easy as it looks, but I agree... it's fun to pretend, or use the button after you've passed something off to someone else.Donna - considering that for the time being my office is my home, I don't think we have to worry about me and arson.

You and cable = arson. Remember the place in Surrey? Well, do ya - PUNK?!?And by the way - Happy Birthday, Stapler-boy.
