You know you're jaded when you can see fireworks like those from Spain (this last Wednesday at the Celebration of Light) and sit there being critical. I wasn't overly impressed with the bulk of it; much repetition, questionable music choices, and little innovation. In fairness however the finale was great, and one of the best I've seen in a long time.Work is reasonably busy, but is showing signs of slowing down. The lovely and talented Tanya came up with a good suggestion for me to find more work, which I'll be following up on next week, but if you know of someone who needs some good tech support services then have them give my company a call.
Tonight is the Summer Lantern Festival, also known as Illuminares. I'm happy that they're back to doing it on the same day as the fireworks. A short while back they changed the schedule so as not to conflict with the fireworks, and it was an utter zoo. Being on the same night makes the crowds significantly smaller, and the event much more pleasant. I highly recommend it as a good photo op.
That's about it. Happy Saturday everyone!

Hey man, how was the Illuminaires? Sorry I didn't get back to you, we got into some poker after the game and before I realized it, it was 10:30!Posted by Andrew on 29 July 2007 - 16:13
I didn't see Spain, but Canada put on a decent performance. Saturated colours(very clean also), perfect synchronization and a high volume of shells (and candles - there was a lot of low-level stuff including some beautiful strobe pots) were plusses - tired musical selections, a generic selection of shells and a lacklustre finale were minuses. A C+ overall.Posted by Tanya (aka NetChick) on 31 July 2007 - 01:34
