T-Minus 19

24 November 2008 - 08:50.

A couple people I know are already aware of this. For the rest of you, I'm moving again.

Y'see, my grandfather is almost 89 years old. He lives alone in South Delta, has diabetes, and is starting to show signs of the onset of Alzheimer's disease. On a good day it takes me about 45 minutes to get to where he lives by car. On a bad traffic day it takes almost double that. My father lives on the far side of Langley, and the travel time is just as bad for him. Difference is, he's not willing to move, at least not right now.

I'm not incredibly comfortable with the distance involved, and his failing health is starting to make me a bit nervous. There's not much in this world that can accomplish that. The place I'm moving to is a whopping 500 feet from his door, which should go a long way to making me feel a lot better about everything. He'll certainly be able to get the level of care and attention that he needs.

Which is fine, really. I think I'm done with downtown for a bit. I've lived in the core for about the past 6 years now, and I think I want to go back to living a life slightly quieter. Constant road noise has become my companion, and it's never truly dark. That's all about to change for me. All in slightly less than 3 weeks.

Someone Should Share

18 November 2008 - 07:45.

Came across this video today, which seems to represent a news item from back in September. All I'm saying is, the RCMP should collectively try this... preferably all at the same time...

Video after the jump. But wait! There's more!

Too Stupid for Words

17 November 2008 - 07:07.

Ok, seriously? WTF. WT MFing F

I know that iPhone users can be a bit of an obsessive bunch. The fervour with which they coddle their phones borders on religious zealotry. And that's fine... I have no issue with that.

But this one is a bit too much!! Are you serious? I too share a love of bacon, but that doesn't mean I'm going to wrap my phone in a pouch that looks like!!

Although suddenly I'm craving breakfast... I don't know why.....

Killer Kitties

13 November 2008 - 21:20.

Courtesy of Sue, I give you... how to tell if your life is in Peril.

I'm not usually one to spread around memes and little shitty quizzes and the like, but this one actually struck me as a) funny, and b) suspiciously plausible.

My results after the jump. But wait! There's more!

You Know...

10 November 2008 - 13:50.

You know you're a geek when...

- You actually don't know how many domain names you own
- You're not surprised when you find out that the number well into double-digits
- You dream about computers
- You buy a phone not based on price or plans, but on data handling and communication capabilities

Do you think you're a geek? Why?
